More about Charred/Burnt Wood (Yakisugi technique)

Using the ancient Japanese burning technique known as ‘Yakisugi’. By slightly charring the surface of the wood without burning the entire piece, the wood becomes waterproof and more durable. It also protects against insects and makes the wood fire-retardant.

Nowadays, the surface of the wood is burned using exclusive technology during production. The burn line is controlled by a computer, which determines the temperature on each side of the product separately. This allows us to achieve the desired burn depth and uniformity.

The cooled wood is brushed. This brings out the structure of the wood.
The final (optional) step is to apply the product in the desired shade.

Every job that uses wood burning techniques is unique and stands up to the challenges of time and nature.
